Network Compatibility Guide

BESTMOW requires a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network for the charging station and RTK base station to connect to the internet. The mower itself connects to the charging station via 802.11ah (WiFi HaLow), not directly to your home Wi-Fi.

Compatibility by Network Type

Standard 2.4GHz router	Yes	Recommended setup. Router must support repeater functionality. Use the main network, not a guest network.
5GHz-only router	No	You must add a 2.4GHz band or connect a separate 2.4GHz access point.
Dual-band router (2.4 + 5GHz)	Yes	Ensure the 2.4GHz band is enabled and the SSID is visible (not hidden).
Mesh systems (eero, Google Wifi, Orbi)	Problematic	Connect an additional standalone router to the mesh system via Ethernet cable, and use that standalone router's 2.4GHz network for BESTMOW.
Guest networks	No	Guest networks typically disable the repeater/AP relay functions that the charging station requires.
Mobile hotspot	Yes (workaround)	Useful when the home router has compatibility issues. Pair with the hotspot, upgrade firmware to the latest version. If the router issue is patched in the new firmware, switch back to home Wi-Fi.
Enterprise / WPA-Enterprise	No	Enterprise Wi-Fi authentication is not supported.

Router Requirements

Must support 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.
Must support repeater functionality (Wi-Fi signal extension).
Use the main network — avoid guest networks (they typically restrict repeater functions).

Known Issue — Mesh Wi-Fi with Same SSID

In mesh Wi-Fi networks where multiple access points share the same SSID (network name), the charging station may connect to a distant, weaker access point instead of the nearest one. This can cause intermittent offline behavior.

Workaround: Connect an additional standalone router to your mesh system via Ethernet cable and use that router's 2.4GHz network (with a unique SSID) for BESTMOW. Firmware updates are being developed to improve mesh network handling.

Compatible Router Shipping

If persistent router incompatibility cannot be resolved through firmware updates or hotspot workarounds, BESTMOW can ship a compatible router to the customer. Contact support to arrange this.
