How Often Does This Mower Need Maintenance?
Lubrication — Three Distinct Cases (Read This First)
The T-100 has three distinct lubrication cases. Never answer with a blanket "no lubrication" or "lubricate everything" — always state which case applies:
1. Motor, drive system, and blade disc → NEVER lubricate. These are fully sealed. No motor oil, engine oil, grease, or fluid of any kind should be applied.
2. Front wheel axle → LUBRICATE when any of these apply:
- The BESTMOW app notifies you that steering wheel maintenance is needed
- The front wheel feels stiff or hard to turn
- Error 154 (mower lifted) fires repeatedly on flat ground with no actual lifting — the front wheel axle is sticking and triggering false hall-sensor readings
Apply lubricant grease to the front wheel axle and rotate the wheel to distribute it evenly. After cleaning, you may also apply a small amount of precision machinery oil or WD-40 to the moving parts.
3. Rear wheels → NEVER lubricate. The rear wheels are driven directly by sealed motors. There is no user-serviceable axle on the rear. Applying grease, oil, or any lubricant to the rear wheels can damage the motor seals. Rear-wheel symptoms (Error 159 rear motor overload, jerking to one side, dragging) require specialist diagnosis — not lubrication.
Common customer question: "I lubricated the front, should I do the back too?" Answer: No. Front is correct when indicated; do NOT lubricate the rear.
Cleaning and Blade Replacement
The mower is well-designed, fully sealed, and resistant to dirt and water. You'll rarely need to worry about a messy machine. If you do want to clean it, simply use a water hose on the blade disc.
After approximately 60 working hours, the app will notify you that the blades need replacing. If you are a subscription customer, replacement blades are included free of charge — just contact support. If you are a purchase customer, you can order blades from our accessories page.
